Powered by Julio Verne Travel since 1995

Seven volcano summits over 5,000m. One country.

Ecuador is the highest concentration of climbable glaciated peaks on the equator. Chimborazo at 6,263m is the farthest point from Earth’s center. Cotopaxi is one of the world’s most active glaciated volcanos. All of it is bookable in 2 to 4 days from Quito. We’ve partnered with Julio Verne Travel, Ecuador’s longest-running mountaineering specialist, to take you up safely.

Before You Push High

Acclimatization treks

Showing up to Cotopaxi straight from sea level is how summits get missed and headaches get earned. We recommend 4 to 7 days of progressive altitude exposure before any climb above 5,500m.

Avenida de Volcanes

5 days / 4 nights · Quito start

Antisana, Quilotoa, Cotopaxi, Chimborazo, Tungurahua. The classic acclimatization route.

Circuito entre Volcanes

4 days / 3 nights · Riobamba start

Carihuairazo camping circuit. Perfect prep for a Chimborazo attempt.

Lagos & Picos

3 days / 2 nights · Quito start

Cuicocha + Fuya Fuya (4,250m) + Imbabura (4,610m). Solid before Cayambe or Cotopaxi.

Quilotoa Loop

3 days / 2 nights · Latacunga start

Sigchos to Quilotoa crater. Lighter introduction at moderate altitude.

How To Pick Your Climb

Very good fitness. Steeper terrain. Mountaineering experience preferred but not required for Level 3-4 climbs; our guides will train basic crampon and ice axe use.
